THE PERFUME PAGODA

A trip sixty kilometers from Hanoi to the mountains and the Perfume Pagoda, which is a cluster of temples and shrines in the general vicinity of the river Huong son. Along the river there are also fish farms, rice fields, ducks, lotus flowers, snails, workers. A scenic 3 hour long boat trip was a part of the experience. When we arrived, it took almost one hour of climbing to get to the sanctuary in the cave.

The trip starts in the village of Duc Khe, where there are rowboats manned by women, who all are descendants of martyrs. No one else has the right to row the tourists.
